"The weaver operates with one foot the two treadles alternately. One raises the heddle whose loops carry the even threads of the warp. Thus a space or shed is left between the two rows of threads, through wich the weaver thrusts the spool with the weft and beats the thread home with the implement (reed) in his right hand. The other heddle then raises the odd threads of the warp and a new 'pick' is made with the odd warp threads above the weft this time. And so on." Yoni, Sherbro Island..
