Fall 2009 Workshop: "Standards-based Language Instruction"

Fall 2007 Workshop: Teaching and Learning
Languages Beyond the Basics
This workshop will cover some theoretical
issues in Second Language Pedagogy, and the
focus will primarily be on techniques and
strategies for advanced-level instruction
and curriculum design and development. We
will look at the ACTFL Proficiency guidelines
and National Standards for Foreign Language
Learning and their implications for advanced-level
curriculum and instructional practices. We
will also address issues of culture, computer-mediated
communication, and learner perspectives on
language learning at advanced-level courses.

Spring 2007 Workshop: Effective Teaching Strategies:
Integrating Technological and non-Technological
Tools in a Language Classroom.
This workshop will focus on ways to effectively
integrate technological and non-technological
tools in a language classroom for effective

Biannual workshops are held every fall
and spring semesters. The workshops address
a variety of topics carefully selected to
improve the quality of instruction. In the
past we have addressed issues on communicative-based
language teaching in the context of methods
and materials development,syllabus design
and learning activities.
Fall 2006 Workshop: Creating
Language Lessons with Authentic Materials
This workshop will focus on developing materials
for online delivery and designing multi-media
learning units incorporating such materials.
