Description & Purpose

The project provides multimedia materials in fifteen
‎ units for each of the project languages: Amharic, Igbo,‎
‎ Swahili, Shona, Twi, Wolof, Yoruba, and Zulu. Each unit‎
‎ provides a set of vocabulary items that could be useful‎
‎ in a particular situation stated as a title of the unit.‎
‎ The spelling, pronunciation, and pictures are provided
‎ to enhance the learning process. The materials can be used‎
‎ for preparatory purposes, prior to presenting communicative‎
‎ lessons around any of the situations for each unit. They
‎ can also be useful for pre-reading, pre-writing,‎
‎ pre-speaking, and pre-listening activities.‎ ‎

The materials can be used at elementary,‎
‎ intermediate, and advanced levels. They can be‎
‎ incorporated into a semester's syllabus, one unit per‎
‎ week.‎
