Southern Africa Educational Campaign

FOR THOSE INTERESTED IN SOUTHERN AFRICA
Announcing the Southern Africa Educational Campaign

We welcome you to this national effort to better educate Americans about Southern Africa and to support Africans in helping their communities to help themselves. Enclosed is a summary of upcoming fall activities in various cities around the U.S. and a description of educational resources available from the campaign.

The Southern Africa Educational Campaign (SAEC) and local organizations are planning educational events designed to help Americans make connections between their own communities and Southern Africa in Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Minneapolis/St. Paul, Seattle, Washington DC and Atlanta. There are many opportunities for you to get involved in making these educational events exciting and fun.

The U.S. Administration and Congress won't make Africa a priority unless U.S. citizens show them that they care about Africa. Help us show them that we do care! We want to see a truly national campaign evolve this fall that will send a rallying cry to Washington that people across this country care about Africa!

To do this, the SAEC is preparing a series of educational materials and a media packet to support the work of local organizers in the six cities and throughout the country. That's where you come in--drawing upon the educational and media resources that SAEC offers, we hope you can initiate activities in your own community that will promote a new vision of Southern Africa.

Please contact Lisa Cannon, our Campaign coordinator, if you have any questions. We look forward to hearing from you and working together in the months ahead! Lisa can be reached by phone at 301-608-2400.

Thanks, Lisa
