Medical Anthropologist- Univ. of Wisconsin-Madison
The University of Wisconsin-Madison, Department of
Anthropology, African Studies Program and the Center
for Study of Cultural Diversity in Healthcare invites
applications for a tenure track position in Cultural
Anthropology at the Assistant Professor level, with a
beginning date of August 22, 2005.
The University seeks a cultural anthropologist with a
specialty on any aspect of health, disease and health care
in contemporary Africa, preferably West Africa, and on
international health questions emanating from or
substantially involving Africa. Preference will be given
to candidates with significant field experience and who
are committed to continued research on Africa and
social medicine.
Collaborative work and program development with
scholars in other university departments and programs
will be encouraged. Tenure will reside 100% in
Anthropology, but the candidate will teach cross-listed
courses and participate actively in the African Studies
Program. Ph.D. at time of appointment is required.
The application deadline is December 1, 2004. Please

evaluations, three letters of recommendation and up to
