Summer Institute
The African Studies Center, Middle East Center, South Asia Center and the Center for East Asia Studies host an annual week-long summer program for educators in the United States. Topics for the Summer Institute vary from year to year, but always feature lectures from Penn faculty, outside scholars and specialists; field trips to area museums, cultural centers or interest sites; performing arts; international cuisine; and interactive learning activities. Upon acceptance to the Summer Institute educators are expected to create new curriculum for their classroom or school and share with colleagues. The Summer Institute is free and usually includes a stipend for housing or meals.
