    The Eastern Africa Network for trypanosomiasis aims at establishing collaboration in research, training and control of trypanosomosis, links for exchange of information and technologies through workshops, technical exchange visits, MSc and PhD programmes, and an annual conference. Sudan's Tropical Medicine Research Institute (TMRI), Kenya Trypanosomiasis Research Institute (KETRI), Uganda's Livestock Health Research Institute (LIRI), Tanzania's National Institute of Medical Reasearch (NIMR) and Tsetse and Trypanosomiasis Reasearch Institute (TTRI) as well as the Swiss Tropical Institute (STI) formed EANETT in 1999 to improve control of African trypanosomosis through investigations of the prevalence and extent of spread, risk of overlap of the two forms of the disease, and melarsoprol resistance.
