Learn African Languages at Columbia University

The United States Department of Education has designated the Institute of African Studies at Columbia University as a National Resource Center in African Studies. The Institute is thus offering language courses that encourage Students to develop practical skills as well as knowledge of the cultural context. During the academic year 1994-1995, the following courses will be offered:

Intermediate courses in Hausa and Wolof will be offered in 1995-96 so that students will be in a position to fulfill their foreign language requirement. Students will also be encouraged to explore advanced study in all three languages at major universities in Africa.
