The Jennings Randolph Fellowship Program
The United States Institute of Peace (USIP) is recruiting a Program Officer in the
Jennings Randolph Fellowship Program. The Jennings Randolph Program runs two major
fellowship competitions: a Senior Fellow competition which provides senior scholars,
policy analysts, policymakers, and other experts with opportunities to spend time in
residence at the Institute, reflecting and writing on pressing issues of conflict
resolution, peacebuilding, and security; and a Peace Scholar competition which supports
students who are writing doctoral dissertations on topics relevant to USIP's mandate.
The Program Officer plays a key role in the administration of the Jennings Randolph
Program. Duties include:
- Providing guidance to applicants in the preparation of fellowship proposals;
- Reviewing and evaluating senior fellow and peace scholar proposals;
- Contributing to the process of proposal evaluation, including internal and external
peer review;
- Working with fellows to support the successful completion of research projects;
- Reading and evaluating manuscripts for publication by USIP Press;
- Contributing to the program's strategic planning;
*Serving as one of USIP's resource persons in the individual's area(s) of
expertise.
Salary is commensurate with qualifications, experience, and salary history. Benefits

Applicants must be U.S. citizens. The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in a
relevant discipline of the social sciences, international relations, security studies,
conflict resolution, or a related field and a minimum of 5 years of professional
experience; demonstrated skills in research management, evaluation, and administration;
excellent writing, speaking, and editorial skills; experience with preparation of
publications accessible to a broad public audience; significant international or other
experience in working across cultures; and strong interpersonal and communication
skills.

The Grant Program
The United States Institute of Peace (USIP) seeks an individual to serve as a Program
Officer in the Institute's Grant Program. The Grant Program increases the breadth and
depth of USIP's work by supporting peace building projects managed by nonprofit
organizations around the world, including educational institutions, research institutions,
civil society organizations, and NGOs.
The Program Officer plays a key role in the administration of the Grant Program. Duties
include:
*Managing a diverse portfolio of grants;
*Providing guidance to applicants in the preparation of grant proposals, including active
assistance in the development of grant applications from organizations in priority
countries identified by USIP;
*Reviewing and evaluating new proposals;
*Managing the process of proposal evaluation, including internal and external peer review;
*Monitoring the implementation and evaluation of grant projects and contracts;
*Assisting in the Grant Program's strategic planning;
*Serve as one of USIP's resource persons in the individual's area(s) of expertise.
