East Stroudsburg University - ASSISTANT PROFESSOR-World History (Africa or Asia)

East Stroudsburg University invites applications for a full time tenure-track position anticipated to be filled at the Assistant Professor level to start August 2006. The department offers a Bachelor of Arts degree for a History major, a dual major in History/Education and a Master of Arts Degree in History. As part of Pennsylvania?s State System of Higher Education (PASSHE) we offer competitive salaries with excellent benefits.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Teach four courses or the equivalent per semester at the
undergraduate and graduate level. Course load will include World History surveys, History of non-western world, upper-level courses and graduate courses. Additional duties include supervision of M.A. theses, mentoring and advising graduate and undergraduate students, engagement in scholarly activity and providing service to the department, University and the community.

QUALIFICATIONS: REQUIRED: Ph.D. in World History (Africa or Asia) at time of
appointment, demonstrated commitment to meeting student needs, previous college level teaching experience in World History surveys, demonstrated potential for productive scholarly activity including having published in World History. Final determination will be based upon successful interview, which will include a teaching demonstration.

PREFERRED: A secondary field in African-American History and experience working
with diverse populations.
