Advert for: Staff Medical Officer at Medical Research Council, The Gambia

Applications are invited from suitably qualified West Africans for a three-year appointment as a Staff Medical Officer. You will be responsible for the clinical care of staff and their families under the direction of the Senior Clinician. In addition to working in the Staff Clinic and the general Outpatients Department you may also be required to spend some time working on the MRC Ward.

We seek someone with:

• MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
• Minimum of three years post-graduate experience in paediatrics and general medicine.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• Good record keeping skills.
• Basic computer literacy.
• The ability to work well in a multi-disciplinary team.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to deal sensitively with staff, staff spouses and their children.

Although not essential, FWACP in General Medical practice would be an advantage.

The minimum total salary package for this post will be 458,557 Dalasis per annum. If you have your full FWACP the total salary package will be 550,033 Dalasis per annum. For displaced staff the package will include displacement allowances, rent-free furnished accommodation, flights and shipment of personal effects.
