  1. PROJECTS AND SITES MANAGER (PSM)

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The Projects and Sites Manager (PSM) shall be responsible for direct supervision of AMANET sponsored clinical trials and projects at the sites.

The position requires a dynamic, self motivated team player willing to travel extensively across Africa. S/he is the principal assistant to the AMANET Clinical Trials Coordinator.

JOB DESCRIPTION

-Responsible for implementation and supervision of AMANET projects; -Participate in Planning and monitoring of clinical trials following ICH/GCP and other international regulations; -Play a role in the design and preparation of trial protocols, investigators' brochures, informed consent statements,reference manuals, etc; -Ensure timely performance of AMANET sponsored projects across Africa; -Be an active member of the Trial Sites Development Committee; -Identifying needs and propose training at specific trial sites; -Ensure good quality data is collected;
-Participate in SOPs preparations (in collaboration with investigators) for the protocol and ethics; -Undertake any other duties as assigned by the Managing Trustee.

QUALIFICATIONS

-MD or equivalent medical degree, a postgraduate degree (at least MSc or equivalent, preferably in public health, epidemiology, paediatrics, tropical medicine, communicable diseases, biostatistics or similar area of specialization); -Postgraduate training in clinical research and / or product development is essential; -Solid knowledge and experience of ICH / GCP; -Computer skills are essential;
-Familiarity with health research ethics issues in African settings is desirable; -Previous training and experience in carrying out and monitoring clinical and field trials of interventions is required; and -Knowledge of French is an advantage.

EMOLUMENTS

The basic salary for this position will be USD 54,000 per annum. The position carries attractive fringe benefits

2. ETHICS COORDINATOR

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The responsibilities of the Ethics Coordinator will include, but not limited to the following: -Manage a broad health research ethics capacity strengthening programme involving at least twenty Institutions across Africa; -Design tools and conduct of Ethics Review Committees (ERCs) / Institutional Review Boards (IRBs) and investigators at AMANET funded institutions; -Facilitate in health research ethics teaching / training exercises; -Monitor the functioning of Institutional Review Boards (IRBs) or Ethics Review Committees (ERCs) which receive support from AMANET; -Be able to prepare for project reviews and programme evaluations; -Liaison with international consultants; -Organise and coordinate high calibre research ethics workshops; -Censor, monitor, and edit subscriber postings on the internet; -Compile case studies, and coordinate ethicists' replies; -Review AMANET trial protocols for ethical inputs; -Carry out any other duties as assigned by the Principal Investigator/ Managing Trustee

QUALIFICATIONS

-Master's degree in health research ethics or related field; -A track record of at least 2 years in active research ethics in an African context; -Able to travel extensively across Sub-Saharan Africa; -Dynamic, self driven individual;
-Reasonable understanding of ICH-GCP;
-Knowledge of French is an advantage;
-Experience as ERB / IRB Administrator or Secretary is desirable.

EMOLUMENTS

3. ACCOUNTS AND PROCUREMENT OFFICER

The responsibilities of the Accounts and Procurement Officer at AMANET Secretariat will include, but will not be limited to the following:

-Ensure proper control of pricing and quality of goods and materials purchased; -Advise AMANET management on matters pertaining to inventory policy, procurement and security of stores; -Review and compile information on financial performance of the projects; -Check effectiveness of budget controls; -Understudy trial needs at trial sites and advise on procurement; -Provide back up to the AMANET Finance and Administration Manager; -Undertake internal audit functions at the AMANET Secretariat; -Monitor installation, safety, use and maintenance of equipment at granted sites; -Audit project accounts at funded sites; -Carry out any other duties as assigned by the Managing Trustee

QUALIFICATIONS

-Preferably a basic degree in either accountancy, finance or materials management; -Excellent command of oral and written English is essential; a good knowledge of French would be an added advantage; -Self motivated, dynamic personality, high integrity needed; -High competence with computer usage is essential.

EMOLUMENTS

-The basic salary for this position will be USD 18,000 per annum. The position carries attractive fringe benefits.
