Lecturer in the Arts of Africa

Applications are invited for a full-time lectureship/research post in the Sainsbury Research Unit, School of World Art Studies and Museology, University of East Anglia, Norwich, UK.

Applicants should have a doctorate in anthropology, art history, archaeology or a related subject. They should have fieldwork experience, strong interests in visual arts, a good record of original research in the arts of Africa (preferable sub-Saharan) and capacity to provide research-led instruction. Expertise in museum anthropology and/or anthropological theory and material culture studies is desirable. Primary responsibilities include: co-teaching an MA course, supervising graduate students, limited undergraduate teaching and integral participation in significant research projects, preferably externally funded.

Salary is expected to be on Lecturer A/B scale, £24352- £36959 (scale effective from 01.08.05). The appointment is full-time and of indefinite length. The Lecturer should be available to start on 1st September 2006.
