The African Malaria Network Trust (AMANET) is a pan-African, non-profit, non-governmental organization whose mission is to promote capacity strengthening, performance and impact of African malaria R & D institutions. Currently AMANET undertakes short-and long-term training of African malaria researchers, infrastructure improvement, equipping research institutions, and sponsorship of clinical and field trials of candidate malaria intervention tools.

AMANET wishes to recruit on contract terms a Network Manager. S/He will be based at the AMANET Secretariat in Dar-es Salaam, Tanzania.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

The Network Manager will assist the AMANET Managing Trustee in carrying out the following:

-planning and implementing programmes, projects and activities of the Secretariat; -preparing long and short-term plans, including annual plans of action; -organizing AMANET governance meetings and making necessary follow ups; -preparing and organizing training workshops, conferences, and similar activities and ensuring preparation of pertinent reports and publications; -maintaining the necessary communication and coordination within the Network; -making inputs into financial estimates and reports;
-preparation of proposals for funding purposes;
-carrying out any other duties as assigned by the Managing Trustee;

QUALIFICATIONS:

-Preferably a basic degree in biomedical or public health sciences, backed by a postgraduate qualification; experience in biomedical research with good publications will be advantageous; -Excellent command of oral and written English is essential; a good knowledge of French would be an added advantage; -Demonstrated experience in institutional leadership is desirable; -Self motivated, multi-tasked, dynamic personality, with high integrity; -High competence with computer usage is essential, as are good interpersonal attributes.

EMOLUMENTS

The basic salary for this position will differ by several magnitudes, depending on qualifications and experience, but is at the level of an internationally competitive salary. The position also carries attractive fringe benefits.

TENURE

The position will initially be for one year, but renewable upon mutual agreement.
