PROGRAMME DEVELOPMENT OFFICER FINANCIAL AND ADMINISTRATIVE CONTROLLER GOVERNANCE TECHNICAL ADVISOR

UNDP is seeking professionals to manage its recently launched Community Assistance Umbrella Programme for Burundi, supporting activities which bridge relief and development with up to $12 million, incorporating community rehabilitation with peace-building. With the overall goal of consolidating peace, the programme aims to support multi-sectoral activities at the community level, using a participatory approach and emphasizing links between concrete activities and peace and reconciliation.

The Umbrella Programme's Programme Development Officer (PDO) will be responsible for putting in place a strategy for negotiating agreements with implementing partners. She or he must have excellent written and oral communication, strategic planning, and management skills in a post-conflict environment, and speak French. An appropriate masters or equivalent degree and more than 5 years of relevant experience are required.

The Financial and Administrative Controller will be responsible for designing and installing a resource tracking system to provide timely financial information to UNDP, donors and partners. He or she will also have administrative responsibilities. A masters or equivalent degree in accounting, international finance, business administration or an equally appropriate field, and more than 5 years of relevant experience are required.

Successful candidates will receive one-year renewable contracts at the UN L3 level. For either post, knowledge of Africa and the Great Lakes Region is a plus.

UNDP Burundi also seeks a Technical Advisor to provide project management support and guidance for its Governance programme which focuses on justice, human rights, corruption and support to national civil society organisations. A masters or equivalent degree in project or financial management or another appropriate field and at least 5 years of relevant experience is required.
