PRESIDENT AL-BASHIR REVIEWS CHALLENGES FACING THE COUNTRY,
DECLARES STATE OF EMERGENCY ALL-OVER THE COUNTRY AS
OF TODAY
Khartoum, Dec. 13 (SUNA)- President of the Republic Gen. Omer Al-Bashir declared the state of the emergency all-over the country for three months as of today, December 13, the 5th. of Ramadan 1420h, and said that orders organizing the state of emergency will be issued successively.
Al-Bashir, in statement over the radio and TV Sunday night, reviewed the achievements realized by the triumph marsh of the National Salvation Revolution(NSR) asserting its objectives which, he said, have been accepted by the people who shed blood and sacrificed souls for achieving these goals.
He affirmed that the steps of the revolution are still moving ahead to set the most symbolic model.
The president said that "to foil the victory
realised, external challenges and foreign plots emerged
targeting the faith of the people and the unity of
the country as well as the civilizational project".
He added that "the almighty Allah put the
revolution before another test on the internal front
represented in the disputes among the state's institutions
and dual leadership of public affairs a matter which
obliged on me to announce the state of emergency in
the country in order to boost the safety and security
of the country, to protect the faith and to widen the
people participation and to renew confidence in members
of the National Congress to assure the World that the
National Salvation Revolution is adherent to its pledges
and principles.
PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC DECLARES STATE OF EMERGENCY
Khartoum, Dec. 13 (SUNA)- President of the Republic Gen. Omer Al-Bashir issued a Republican Decree on declaration of the State of Emergency in the country.
The declaration of the state of emergency was taken under articles 43 and 131 of the Constitution, and in compliance with the President's responsibility for preserving the security of the country in the face of the foreign threats which are targeting its unity and wealth, and to secure the internal front, unity, security and stability in Sudan.
According to the decree the state of emergency
will begin as of Monday December 13 and lasts for three
months.
EMERGENCY ORDER NO. (1) 99 ISSUED
Khartoum, Dec. 13 (SUNA)- The President of the Republic Gen. Omer Al-Bashir Sunday night issued the emergency order No. (1) on suspension of the articles 56, 57, 59 and 60 (2) and (3) of the Constitution.
According to the order all the walis (governors)
of the states shall continue carrying out their duties.
The decree stipulated that all the legislative
assemblies in the states shall continue carrying out
their tasks.
According to the order, the President of the
Republic is entitled to relieve the wali and to appoint
acting wali till expiry of the emergency period.
REPUBLICAN DECREE ON END OF THE TERM OF NATIONAL ASSEMBLY
Khartoum, Dec. 13 (SUNA)- President of the Republic Gen. Omer Al-Bashir has issued a Republican decree on expiry of the National Assembly term as of Monday December 13, 1999, according to the articles 43, 39 and 72 of the Constitution.
The decree stipulated that voters shall be invited
to elect a new National Assembly on date to be fixed
by the General Elections Commission.
