South Africa Field Program
The South Africa Field Program is an annual three-week long travel study abroad program, offered by the Departments of Geography at Mary Washington College and the University of Vermont. Our annual itineraries include visits to Cape Town, Durban, Johannesburg, Soweto, and one of South Africa's major wildlife parks. It is open to full or part-time students from any part of the world, and is available for credit through either of the sponsoring institutions.

The Freedom of Expression Institute (FXI) was formed in January 1994 from a merger of two
organisations involved in campaigning for freedom of expression during the apartheid years, namely the

also established the Media Defence Fund to sponsor freedom of expression court cases on behalf of media who are not able to afford the legal costs. This work is a continuation of work conducted by the
