DISSERTATION FELLOWSHIPS for African, Latino, Asian, and Native
American Scholars
The College of Saint Rose is a dynamic, comprehensive college of 4,980
students (2,958 undergraduates; 2,022 graduates) where teaching is the
first priority. Located within 3 hours of Boston and New York City in
Albany, NY the College is an independent, coeducational college.
Additional information about the College can be found by visiting
www.strose.edu. The College supports two prospective ALANA
scholars in the completion of dissertations leading to a doctoral degree. In
addition to a $20,000 stipend, the annual fellowships include housing on
campus, $5,000 in research expenses, office space, computing facilities,
graduate research assistants, and access to local library resources. Fellows
are expected to complete their dissertations by the year's end and will teach
one course, usually in the Fall semester, in their discipline.
They will discuss their research or creative work with Saint Rose faculty
and students at selected events throughout the year. At the satisfactory
completion of their Fellowship year, fellows will be invited to apply
for full-time faculty positions in their disciplines, as these may become
available at the College. Eligibility Requirements: (1) record of
outstanding academic achievement; 2) member of historically underrepresented
racial or ethnic group, including, but not limited to: African Americans,
Alaskan Natives, American Indians or Native Americans, Asian Americans,
Latino/as, Chicano/as, and Pacific Islanders; (3) enrollment in a full-time
academic program leading to doctoral degree at the time of application; (4)
admission to degree candidacy before the dissertation fellowship is awarded;
(5) approval of dissertation proposal by the applicant's committee prior to
application; (6) U.S. citizen. Application Deadline: November 15
