Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow in Politics

The Department of Politics at Oberlin College invites applications for a Mellon Post-Doctoral Fellowship position in the College of Arts and Sciences. The Fellowship is designed to help promising social scientists make the transition from graduate programs to professional careers in academia. Appointment to this positions will be for a term of 2 years, beginning Fall, 1998, and will carry the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor of Politics.

The incumbent will teach one course each semester in the general area of international politics, while simultaneously pursuing a research program. Two of the four courses to be taught over the two-year period will be introductory international relations courses. One of the other two will be an intermediate-level course in the areas of international organization or Third World political economy, and the fourth will be an advanced undergraduate seminar on a topic of the Fellow's choice. The Fellow will be assigned two mentors from the Oberlin faculty.

Among the qualifications required for appointment is the Ph.D. degree (in hand or expected by June 30, 1998). Candidates will generally have received the Ph.D. in 1995 or later. Candidates must demonstrate interest and potential excellence in undergraduate teaching and research.
