Fellowships: Malaria Research and Training Project, 03/02



The Biomedical Research and Training Institute (BRTI) was founded in 1995, as a non-profit public organization dedicated to build health research capacity in Zimbabwe and the SADC region. The BRTI is inviting applications for pre-doctoral and masters level fellowships sponsored by the Fogarty International Centre in conjunction with Johns Hopkins University to assist in building research capacity in malaria in the SADC region. These fellowships are intended to encourage young scientists and professionals working at national institutions to be trained in the field of malaria research.

Doctoral Two fellowships are available to applicants who meet the requirements for registering for research based PhD at the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health. Fieldwork for the dissertation will be carried out in SADC.

GRE General Test Scores are required. Applicants are expected to have a minimum of 2.1 degree pass in medicine, biochemistry, immunology or biological sciences. In addition, applicants with MSc degree and previous research experience have an advantage.

Masters Two fellowships are available for applicants interested in postgraduate training that leads to a MSc or MPH degree. Applicants should be eligible to register at a university in SADC region. Participants will also undertake a three months certificate course at the Johns Hopkins Summer Institute of Tropical Medicine.

Applicants are expected to have a minimum of 2.1 degree pass in medicine, biochemistry, immunology or biological sciences. The dissertation will be in malaria/entomology.
