Support is provided for a one-year in-residence fellowship of $32,000 at the Center for Afro-American and African Studies for a scholar engaged in postdoctoral work on Africa or the African diaspora. OBJECTIVES:

The sponsor invites applications from postdoctoral scholars working on Africa or the African diaspora. Consideration will be given to all disciplines including, but not limited to, the humanities, social sciences, physical sciences and professionals schools.

RESTRICTIONS:

Eligible applicants must have a Ph.D. in hand and be no more than five years beyond completion of their degree. There are no citizenship restrictions. Scholars from or who study the Gullah speaking Seas islands, Cape Verde islands, the Anglophone Caribbean, the Canary Islands, and Madagascar and/or less studied areas are especially encouraged to apply.

The stipend is $32,000 for one year. Health insurance plus $1,000 for research and up to $3,000 for travel expenses are also included. Fellows will be expected to conduct a work-in-progress seminar on their research during one of the semesters in residence.
