UCLA Graduate Conference in African Studies, 04/00

FINAL REMINDER

The submission deadline for the UCLA Graduate Conference in African Studies is next week. We would again like to encourage all graduate students with an interest in Africa or the Diaspora to submit an abstract. Partial travel scholarships will be awarded to some presenters.

The conference will be held at UCLA on Saturday, April 15, 2000. The theme is "Africa Past, Present and Future: An Interdisciplinary Graduate Student Research Conference in African Studies."Graduate students in ALL departments at ALL universities researching ANY topic relating to Africa or the Diaspora are encouraged to submit a proposal.

Please remember to submit 3 copies of your 1 page, double-spaced abstract along with your contact information next week. Presentations at the conference in April will be limited to 15-20 minutes and may consist of research you have done for a graduate seminar, a chapter of your thesis or dissertation, or a work in progress. Multi-media presentations are especially encouraged.

Papers presented at the conference will be eligible for consideration for publication in an upcoming issue of Ufahamu, UCLA's premiere African Studies quarterly, which has a wide academic readership and international circulation.
