Southern Africa HIV and AIDS Information Dissemination Service (SAfAIDS) is a regional not-for profit organisation, established in 1994, based in Harare, Zimbabwe, whose core business lies the mandate to repackage, develop and document quality and target specific HIV and AIDS information, addressing the diverse information and capacity needs of various entities and populations in the Southern Africa region.

With the support of USAID in collaboration with Pact, SAfAIDS aims to develop a comprehensive " Regional Antiretroviral Therapy (ART) Community Preparedness Experiences" Package, including a Best Practice Booklet, to be distributed in ten (10) SADC countries and beyond to increase cross-learning, sharing and replication of ART Community Preparedness interventions.

SAfAIDS is inviting organisations from Botswana, Namibia and Lesotho working in community development, workplace programmes, orphans and vulnerable children, media and livelihoods to submit a two-page concept paper outlining a program or practice that you feel is a best practice in treatment literacy.

To facilitate the documentation and selection process, SAfAIDS has adopted the following SADC criteria of identifying 'best practice':

• Is the programme effective?
• Is the programme ethically sound?
• Is programme implementation cost-effective?
• Is the programme relevant to the targeted beneficiaries?
• Can the programme be replicated elsewhere in the region?
• Is the programme unique and innovative?
• Can the programme be sustained after the project has been terminated?

A regional selection committee will be established to assist in evaluating the concept papers based on these criteria. Short listed organisations will be notified within a period of two weeks. The selected projects will be documented and shared in the booklet on best practices. Selected projects together with participating organisations will be fully acknowledged in the booklet.

TO SUBMIT:
Organisations are encouraged to follow the guidelines below in developing their concept papers:

• Background information of the ART community intervention, including project title, target population, geographical coverage and project description
• Methodologies and strategies being used
• Evidence of success and achievements
• Challenges faced
• Lessons learnt
• Conclusion detailing why your programme is a best practice and should be documented

Please note that concept papers longer than two pages will not be considered.
