Call for Proposals: 4th Annual Greater New York Area African
History Workshop, 01/07
Princeton University
Saturday, 27 January 2007
9am - 7pm
The Greater New York Area African History Workshop offers both faculty and advanced
graduate students, living and working in the New York area, an opportunity to present
their research and works-in-progress. The workshop is designed to bring together scholars
working on diverse historical topics to meet, exchange ideas and experiences, and
facilitate future interaction and collaboration.
Those interested in presenting at the workshop should prepare a title and a one or two paragraph description of the presentation and submit it to Paul Ocobock (pocobock@princeton.edu). Proposals must be submitted no later than Sunday, 7th January. Please indicate in your proposal whether you will require any equipment such as LCD or overhead projectors. Accepted proposals will be organized into panels. Each speaker will be asked to limit his or her presentation to 15 minutes only, allowing time for discussion.
If you plan to attend the workshop but do not wish to present, please RSVP at your
earliest convenience.
Princeton will provide breakfast, lunch, and dinner for all attendees. Participants will be asked to provide their own transportation and accommodation. Princeton is approximately 60 minutes from New York Penn Station via NJ Transit and Philadelphia 30th Street Station via SEPTA and NJ Transit. For further travel information see http://www.princeton.edu/main/visiting/travel/.
The workshop is sponsored by the Princeton History Department, Shelby Cullom Davis
Center, and the Princeton African Studies Program.
