Call for papers for the fourth conference of

The International Society for Oral Literature in Africa on

African orality and creativity

to be held from 10 to 12 July 2002

at the University of Savoie, Chambéry (France)

 

The conference will take place over 6 half days. A supplementary day will cater for those who wish to go on an excursion to explore the culture of the region. The first half-day will be taken up with orientation and a presentation on the theme under the auspices of the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research on Creativity at the University of Savoie. The last half-day will be reserved for a summary discussion and the General Assembly of ISOLA. The four other half-days will consist of discussions on the theme of the conference, broken down into the following four sections relating to African orality:

 

A. Variability and creativity

B. The originators of oral literature

C. The emergence of new works and new genres

D. Development as a vehicle of creativity

Proposals of about 20 lines for papers relating to one of the four chosen themes should be sent before 15 December 2001 to Anne-Marie Dauphin (amdauphin@freesurf.fr) or to Jean Derive (La Tardivière, 73470 Ayn, France). The full texts of papers must be submitted no later than 15 June 2002.
