Call for Papers: Journal of Eritrean Studies

The College of Arts and Social Sciences is pleased to announce the launching of its new periodical, the JOURNAL OF ERITREAN STUDIES.  The Editor and the Editorial Advisory Board now invite submissions to the JOURNAL, which marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter in the development of Eritrean Studies.

We welcome studies of Eritrea from a wide range of perspectives, including Eritrean culture, politics, economy, environment, society, history, language and methodological studies.  The JOURNAL seeks to benefit from the works of specialists in different academic disciplines engaged in research on Eritrea, and from the expertise of those who are involved in the current affairs of the country.  The JOURNAL seeks to promote a deeper understanding of issues which are relevant to the past, present and future of Eritrea.  It is intended for students and academic specialists, as well as for general readers and practitioners with a concern for Eritrea.  Contributions should be presented in such a way as to be accessible to any informed and interested reader.  The JOURNAL strongly encourages an interdisciplinary approach.

Contributions are welcomed from all over world, and those from scholars and practitioners working within or associated with the academic community in Eritrea are especially welcome.  The average length suggested is 5,000 to 7,000 words, not inclusive of footnotes, although longer papers may be considered.  Articles submitted to the JOURNAL should be original compositions and not under consideration by other publications at the same time.

Contributors should submit one hard copy of their papers, which should be typed in double spacing with good margins.  Papers should also be submitted in electronic format, either on diskette or by e-mail attachment, using Microsoft Word.  The author’s name, address and, where appropriate, institutional affiliation should be provided on a cover page and excluded from the main text, so as to ensure anonymity.  Manuscripts will not be returned to authors.

The deadline for submissions is 30 April 2002, and should be sent to Dr. Richard Reid (Editor), at
