Program Information

JHPIEGO (an affiliate of Johns Hopkins University) is pleased to
announce an international workshop entitled STRENGTHENING EDUCATION SYSTEMS FOR HEALTH PROFESSIONALS: STRATEGIES AND NEW DIREC- TIONS.

The goal of the workshop is to assist key stakeholders in
strengthening their system for educating healthcare providers
(e.g., medical, nursing, and midwifery) and to improve the performance of faculty and clinical instructors within the system. While the major focus of the workshop will be on family planning, maternal health and HIV/AIDS education, those working in other health related disciplines would also find the workshop
useful.

Workshop Objectives

After completing this highly interactive and engaging workshop,
participants will be able to:

  • Identify the components of the healthcare provider education system
  • Apply a 4-phase process to strengthen the education of health-care providers
  • Describe the foundations of educating healthcare providers
  • Develop objectives for learning
  • Plan for teaching
  • Prepare the teaching environment
  • Prepare and use visual aids
  • Prepare and deliver interactive presentations
  • Facilitate group learning
  • Facilitate the development of healthcare delivery skills
  • Manage clinical practice
  • Prepare and use knowledge assessments
  • Prepare and use skills assessments
  • Monitor and revise teaching
