Call for Papers: African Literature Association Conference, 01/04




The African Studies Program at the University of
Wisconsin-Madison, together with the Department of African Languages and Literature, the Department of French and
Italian, and the International Academic Programs office, are pleased to announce the African Literature Association's
30th Anniversary Conference 14-18 April 2004 Madison,
Wisconsin. This year's theme is "Verbal Performance and
Visual Cultures."

The Conference will also celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the Department of African Languages and Literature.

We prefer and are currently accepting proposals on-line for individual papers, panels, roundtables, and seminars.
Potential participants are urged to send proposals and pay their membership dues as early as possible. Proposals not received by the deadline will be rejected.

The deadline for proposals is 15 January 2004 and it is
FINAL.

Please note a different deadline for seminars (see details on website): 15 November 2003.

Relevant proposals from disciplines other than literature are welcome.
