Call for Papers: Health Research Priorities in Tanzania - Meeting the Millennium Development Goals?, 03/06



National Institute for Medical Research (NIMR) is organizing the

"21ST ANNUAL JOINT SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCE (AJSC)" that will be held at March 07-09, 2006.

MEETING VENUE, DATES AND TIME:

The 21st AJSC will be held at the Arusha International Conference Centre in Arusha, northern Tanzania. The conference opens on Tuesday, March 07, 2006 at 08:30h and closes on Thursday,
March 9, 2006 at 17.30h.

CONFERENCE THEMES AND SUB-THEMES:

The theme for the 21st AJSC is: ?Health Research Priorities in

Tanzania: Meeting the Millennium Development Goals?.

The scientific programme will accommodate broadly the theme
above. However, the timeline will include plenary sessions of
state of art lectures on various sub-themes followed by parallel
sessions that will receive and discuss free communications. This
year, important plenary and parallel sessions are devoted to the
following sub-themes:

  • Health Research Priorities in developing countries
  • Impact of poverty-related diseases on maternal and childhealth (including HIV/AIDS, Malaria and Tuberculosis and other communicable diseases)
  • Non-communicable diseases
  • Indigenous Knowledge and Alternative Medicine
  • Health Systems and Policy Research including Health Information Systems

LANGAUAGE: English is the working language of the conference.

PARTICIPANTS:

The invitation is open to individual and group participants with
keen interest on research and development (researchers, research
clients including health related donors, NGOs, health workers,
trainers, policy and decision makers, representatives of special
interest groups and the mass media).

ABSTRACTS:

Abstracts are invited on the above sub-themes. Abstracts must be
submitted electronically by December 15th 2005. Each abstract
must not exceed 250 words and should include the objectives,
methodology, results and conclusions. The abstract should show
the surnames and initials of those who will make the presentations should be underlined. Each oral presentation, including discussion time, must not exceed 20 minutes. The conference will
provide projection facilities for transparencies and power
point.
