Call for Panels
12th International Triennial Symposium on African Art
Transitions, Passages, and Confluences St. Thomas, Virgin Islands April 25-29, 2001
The 12 Triennial Symposium on African art is organized by the Art Council of the African Studies Association (ACASA). Hosted by the University of the Virgin Islands, the conference will coincide with the carnival and carnival events will be built into the schedule.
This is the first ACASA symposium of the new millennium and is also the first to be held outside the continental United States. The setting of the conference in the Caribbean inspired its theme: Transitions, Passages, and Confluences. It is an inclusive theme that encourages the investigation of transformations in the arts of the African continent and the African Diaspora.
This is a call for panel proposals. Proposals should
include:
* Title
* A one page proposal describing the premise and scope
of the panel
* A short paragraph abstract to be published in the
newsletter
* A one page CV
* Contact information including address, phone, fax
and e-mail (if available)
The deadline for panel proposals is March 15, 2000. A list of panels will be published in the ACASA Newsletter with a deadline for paper proposals in August 2000. Please submit proposals to Eli Bentor, Chair, Program Committee. Electronic submissions are encouraged.
